French star Karim Benzema said that he will be in the audience to watch the match between Algeria and Guinea in the African qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup next Thursday, as the Saudi Al-Ittihad striker is on a tourist tour in his home country.

Benzema, who was born in the French city of Lyon, is taking advantage of his summer vacation to visit Algeria for the first time, where he will begin his journey, in which he traveled by private plane, by visiting the city of Bejaia, the birthplace of his mother, before passing through the state of Tiaret, the birthplace of his father.

Benzema told the local press in brief statements today, Saturday, that he will watch the Algerian national team from the stands when it hosts Guinea at Nelson Mandela Stadium on June 6.

Four days later, Algeria will play against its host Uganda in the seventh group matches, which it leads with 6 points.

Benzema (36 years old) scored 37 goals during 97 international matches with France, and was among the winning squad of the European Nations League in 2021.

The former Real Madrid captain, who won the Ballon d’Or in 2022, suffered from injuries, which cost him his absence from his team, Al-Ittihad, for most of the season after moving to Saudi Arabia during the last summer transfer period.
